Over the past decade, Brenda Hampton has dedicated her career to all things literary. She has penned several bestselling novels and works as a representative for numerous authors on the literary scene. Her career is filled with many accomplishments; none more satisfying than assisting talented writers reach their goals. Through lending a hand, Hampton has been classified as the go-to person for honest book critiques, agent representation, book cover designs, marketing ideas, editing suggestions…and book publications provided by her company, BHE.
The Brenda Hampton Honorary Literacy Award not only celebrates writers, but it also represents unique individuals who put forth every effort to uphold the standards of African American Literature. It honors the literary art of new writers who, from the very beginning , produce work we can all be proud of. These writers recognize what is required to have a longstanding career, and to the best of their ability, they successfully craft the written word to portray unforgettable ideas and images within the content of a book. In addition, The Brenda Hampton Honorary Literacy Award honors Literary Legends who have mastered their ideas and purpose for being part of the book industry. These individuals include writers, reviewers, editors, publishers, agents…all who have remained dedicated to the cause for years, who have inspired many others along the way and who have had a great impact on the industry as a whole.
While many of the above are often overlooked, The Brenda Hampton Honorary Literacy Award will now give recognition to deserving individuals. It’s a small token of appreciation for those who give so much to African American Literature, in hopes that their ongoing efforts will continue to make a difference. It’s a simple “Thank You” from me to you. I hope that this prestigious award encourages each recipient to look beyond their achievements and strive for even more. My support will be granted along the way and I wish all recipients of this award continued success. .
